Miami Marlins Minute 5/17

Torn between actual feelings about Mike Redmond being fired, and the fact that I actually predicted this- both on this site, and at http://www.marlinmaniac.com . But before we can dive into that, we have to breakdown the final chapter in the Atlanta Braves second sweep of the Miami Marlins: a 6-0 loss Sunday afternoon in Miami.

  • Miami had no errors in a game for the first time this series.
  • Sadly it was their worst offensive effort, as Shelby Miller was one out from a no-hitter.
  • Justin Bour provided the face-saving pinch-hit single.
  • Dee Gordon Watch: Did snag a hit, still batting .420.
  • Jhonatan Solano spelled J.T. Realmuto, going 0 for 3 in his stead.
  • Brad Hand and A.J. Ramos turned in 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.
  • Recently reinstated Henderson Alvarez allowed six runs in 5 1/3 innings.
  • This was the first complete game turned in against Miami this year.
  • Miami’s record now sits at 16-22; Jeff Torborg was fired in 2003 for the same total.
