Miami Marlins Minute 5/9

The San Francisco Giants brought Miami’s offensive assault to a screeching halt, limiting the Marlins to just three hits on the night between just two players.  Needless to say, that was not enough to get it done, as the Marlins were thoroughly dominated in a 6-0 shutout loss.

  • The Marlins benched twenty games of hitting streak, with Ichiro and Gordon out.
  • Christian Yelich returned to the lineup, going 0-4.
  • Reid Brignac was designated to make room for Yelich on the roster.
  • Jarred Cosart lasted just four innings- his shortest outing of the year.
  • Tim Lincecum struck out eight in six scoreless innings.
  • Ex-Marlin Hits McGee ground into two double plays to pad his MLB lead, but after a grand slam.
  • The Curse of Discarded Marlins struck twice, as Yusmeiro Petit tossed a three-inning save.
  • Ichiro lost his hitting streak, but kept his appearance streak going, on a failed pinch-hit in the 6th.
  • The Marlins are now 0-2 with Dee Gordon out of the lineup.
