After homering in the second inning, Bryce Harper came up to the plate with a man on second and first base open in the third against the same pitcher. Ryan Zimmerman was on deck, who while he has hit very well against Miami in his career, has been having a terrible enough season that going 1 for 4 today raised his average to .212.
I was ripped pretty sensationally for putting this question out there in the Twitterverse earlier, but I’m really curious. Would you have pitched to him or walked him in that situation, and why?
And for a bonus, would you have pitched to him in at-bat #3, after two homers had been allowed?
Please comment, for I really am just trying to learn something I might not be considering.
